Tidings" the Messiah performance will continue for our area "And The Glory…the

Due to circumstances, "Like
Sheep…Gone Astray," the performance could not be produced last year. But, "Their
Sound Has Gone Out" and it will continue this year.

McNeese Spring Commencement set for May 19th

McNeese State University will hold its spring commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at Burton Coliseum.

This spring 823 degrees will be awarded to 801 candidates, including 44 associate degrees, 632 bachelor’s degrees and 147 master’s degrees.

Dr. Jeanne Daboval, provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at McNeese, will serve as master of ceremonies, recognize retiring faculty and confer degrees on candidates.

The McNeese Wind Symphony, directed by Dr. Jay Jacobs, will perform the processional, national anthem and recessional.

The Calcasieu Parish Public Library will offer Summer Reading Programs for all ages in June and July. Registration for the reading programs will begin on May 29 at 11 host library locations.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

The annual SRP Kick-off Celebration will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 8 at Prien Lake Park Harbor’s Edge Pavilion. This celebration will feature a magic show by Geebo the Clown, cookie decorating, dress-up booth, temporary tattoos, face painting, bookmark creations, balloon art, and more. The Friends of the Library will sell SRP T-shirts for $7.00 and book bags for $2.00 at the Kick-off.

Summer Food Service Program to begin June 4

Beginning June 4 and continuing
through July 27, 2012, the City of Lake Charles will be sponsoring the Summer
Food Service Program.  Eligibility is any child 18 years of age or younger
or any person over 18 who has been determined mentally or physically
handicapped by a state educational agency or local public educational agency of
a state and is enrolled in a public or private nonprofit school program.
