Eschete, Jordan capture first place in HT Series Redfish Tournament

Dwayne Eschete and Clark Jordan won first place at the Lake Charles stop of the HT Series Redfish tournament on May 4 at the Contraband Days Louisiana Pirate Festival. The pair brought in a combined 31.85 pounds of redfish and received a $10,000 prize.

On May 5 at 4:49 p.m., Officer T. Gaston and Corporal D. Bray were dispatched to the 2700 block of 1st Avenue in reference to two black males at a residence attempting to break into an enclosed trailer. The subjects were allegedly recovering stolen property.

On Monday, May 6, L'Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles hosted the Cops & Jocks Golf Classic at Contraband Bayou Golf Club for the ninth year in a row. The $40,000 donation included the golf course, meeting space, food and beverage, staffing and accommodations.

The first annual Family Safety Day on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pinderosa Park, located at 2901 Westwood Road in Westlake. Phillips 66 will host the event, which will focus on transportation safety and will feature various exhibits and activities.

The event is free and open to the public. Food and beverages will be provided.

Sulphur PD announces arrests for April 26-29

The following is a news release from the Sulphur Police Department:

The Sulphur Police Department has reported that from April 26-29 officers of the department investigated eleven traffic accidents reporting three injuries and issued thirty-three traffic citations.

Officers also responded to several other incidents resulting in twelve arrests:

King J. Johnson, a Black Male, 51, of Lake Charles, was arrested and booked into the Sulphur City Jail for criminal trespass, unauthorized entry of a dwelling and aggravated assault.

Air Force Airman Clifton J. Craddock graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
