Arts Council of SWLA to hold summer art camp

The Arts Council of SWLA has announced that its Summer Arts Camp 2013 will be held June 4-27 at the Lake Charles Boston Academy of Learning, located at 1509 Enterprise Boulevard in Lake Charles.

Artwork produced by participants in the art camp will be displayed at an open house on June 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. Children can pick up their artwork on June 28.

The Historic City Hall Arts and Cultural Center has announced the arrival of a new exhibition, "Window on the West: Views from the American Frontier." It will open on Friday, April 26, during the Spring Art Walk from 5-9 p.m. The exhibition will hang in the second floor gallery through July 20.

CVB announces winners of People's Choice Awards in Mardi Gras Shoebox Float Contest

The following is a news release from the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau:

The Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau recently held a Mardi Gras Shoebox Float Contest, with entrants including school groups, clubs and organizations, professional divisions and residents. 

Visitors to the CVB's Welcome Center and fans on the Visit Lake Charles Facebook page had the opportunity to vote on their favorite floats in the Children and Adult Divisions for the People’s Choice awards.

Entries sought for Downtown Lake Charles Crawfish Festival Poster Contest

Entries are being sought for the Downtown Lake Charles Crawfish Festival Poster Contest. Entries will be accepted from Tuesday, March 5 through Friday, March 8.

The winning entry will receive prize money, with the artwork reproduced on the annual festival poster and t-shirt. Winning artwork will also be featured during Spring ArtWalk 2013 at the Gallery by the Lake.
