Iowa Arts and Crafts Festival to be held Aug. 24 | Arts & Culture
The following is a news release from Calcasieu Parish Public Library:
The 5th Annual Iowa Arts and Crafts Festival will be held on Saturday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Iowa Community Center, located at 209 U.S. 90 W. The event is free and open to the public.
Live entertainment, refreshments, arts and crafts demonstrations, storytelling, and displays are all part of the schedule of events.
On-site demonstrations will include:
9 a.m. and noon: Emma Hughes weaves traditional baskets.
9:30 a.m.: The “Porta Puppets” will entertain with their story telling.
10 a.m.: Shriner Clown “Hobo Bill” creates balloon art for children.
11 a.m.: “Ponies ‘R Us” offers free pony rides to young children.
11 a.m.: Cloud Nine will perform live music.
Noon: A Glass Tile Pendant class will be held for those who pre-registered for the class at the Iowa Library.
Noon: Face Painting for kids.
Many artisans will have their works on display, including the following: The Calcasieu Cut-Ups Quilt Guild, Creations by Catherine, John Chaumont, Morgan Allain, C.J. Scheufens, Frank McDonald, Peloquin Taxidermy and Re-Purposed Crafts.
Free refreshments provided by Coca-Cola and Capital One Bank will be available.
Be sure to register at the Library sign-in table for several free drawings to be held throughout the event. Registrants need not be present to win.
