LiHEAP to take appointments for low income utility assistance in Calcasieu
The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) is now taking appointments for Calcasieu residents to apply for financial assistance regarding their electricity and gas utility expenses. Based on 2011- 2012 figures, more than 4,100 people parish-wide benefitted from this program.
The LiHEAP program is based on a resident’s total income, and priority is given to residents over 60 years of age, households with children under 5 years of age, and the disabled. Applications will be evaluated on a first come first serve basis.
