LiHEAP to take appointments for low income utility assistance in Calcasieu | Environment

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) is now taking appointments for Calcasieu residents to apply for financial assistance regarding their electricity and gas utility expenses. Based on 2011- 2012 figures, more than 4,100 people parish-wide benefitted from this program.
The LiHEAP program is based on a resident’s total income, and priority is given to residents over 60 years of age, households with children under 5 years of age, and the disabled. Applications will be evaluated on a first come first serve basis.
Please note: Interested residents must first schedule an appointment with a representative at our call center in order to apply.
Low income residents can start setting up appointments for financial assistance regarding their electricity and gas utility expenses on Monday, Jan. 28 at 8:30 a.m. by calling 337-721-4033.
Scheduled appointments will be given in the following communities on specified days and times.
Lake Charles Sulphur
8:30 a.m. – 2:40 p.m. 9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.
Monday – Thursday First and Third Thursday of each month
9 a.m. – Noon on Fridays
DeQuincy Westlake
9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m. 9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.
First and Third Tuesday of each month Third Monday of each month
Vinton Iowa
9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m. 9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.
Second Tuesday of each month Fourth Thursday of each month
Starks Bell City
9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m. 9 a.m. – 11:40 a.m.
Second Thursday of each month First Monday of each month
