Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge to be held May 10-11 in Lake Charles | Events
The Scott Firefighter Combat Challenge will be held on May 10-11 at the Lake Charles Civic Center in conjunction with Contraband Days. The event is free for participants with paid admission to Contraband Days, and the competition is open to current or retired firefighters.
Participants can compete was individuals, in tandem (teams of 2) or as a relay team of 3-5 firefighters. Individual races will begin Friday at 5:30 p.m., and tandem and relay races will begin Saturday at 10 a.m.
Competitors will simulate the physical demands of real-life firefighting by performing a series of five tasks, including climbing the 5-story tower carrying a 45-pound hose pack, hoisting a 42-pound hose pack from the ground, chopping a 160-pound I-beam to move it 5 feet, dragging charged hoses and dragging a life-sized, 175-pound "victim" 100 feet.
