City of Lake Charles seeking entries for Christmas parade

The following is a news release from the City of Lake Charles:

The City of Lake Charles is calling for entries in two annual parades slated for Saturday, Dec. 1 as part of the Light up the Lake Christmas Celebration.

Lacassine Knights of Columbus/Catholic Daughters to host Cajun Day

The Lacassine Knights of Columbus/Catholic Daughters Cajun Day will be held Sunday, Nov. 4 at the Lacassine Community Center.

At 7 a.m., Father Roland Vaughn will celebrate a French Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church on Ann Street.

Pork steak dinners will be sold for $7. Hamburgers will be sold for $3. There will also be a sweet shop and an auction.

There will be live music. Admission will be $6 a person.

From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Lesa Cormier and the Sundown Playboys will perform.

KPLC’s Community Christmas and the Salvation Army Angel Tree, in partnership with Capital One and the Associates of Christus St Patrick Hospital, will be taking applications for Christmas assistance Oct. 16 through Oct. 19 at the Salvation Army Worship Center.

Here are the times:

Oct. 16-17 -- 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Oct. 18-19 -- 2 p.m.-7 p.m.

If you woke up to a fire in your home, how much time do you think you would have to get to safety?  According to the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), one-third of Americans households who made and estimate they thought they would have at least six minutes before a fire in their home would become life threatening. Unfortunately, the time available is often less.
