Nearly 1,500 graduates received diplomas at ULL Spring 2013 graduation

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette awarded diplomas to 1,479 graduates as part of Saturday’s Spring 2013 Commencement ceremonies.

Doctoral degrees were awarded at a general assembly at the Cajundome that was attended by all graduates. Master's and bachelor's degrees were conferred for each academic college at ceremonies at different campus locations following the general assembly.

Statue honors LDWF Enforcement Agents killed in the line of duty

The following is a news release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries:

On Tuesday, May 21, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) dedicated a statue in Baton Rouge to honor those Enforcement Division agents who have died in the line of duty.

The statue depicts an LDWF Enforcement Division agent in an honor guard uniform with his head bowed. The statue sits on top of a granite pedestal that is engraved with the names of the seven LDWF agents that have been killed in the line of duty.

Master Gardeners attend appreciation program

The following is a news release from the LSU AgCenter:

More than 200 Louisiana Master Gardeners braved downpours to be recognized for their volunteer efforts at the LSU AgCenter Hammond Research Station on May 10.

Attendees came from almost all parishes across the southern part of the state, in addition to small groups from several parishes in north Louisiana, said LSU AgCenter Master Gardener coordinator Rene Schmit.
