Teen Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C.

Teen Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C.

I was chosen to represent Louisiana for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Teen Advocacy Day in Washington, D.C. I felt very honored to be chosen because my dad had cystic fibrosis, and I did this in his memory.

The first night, we had a reception and we all the teen advocates got to meet each other and say why we were there. We also played games to mingle and get to know each other. It was very fun and made me feel more comfortable with the other advocates.

More Than 100 Local Elected Officials Endorse Governor Jindal’s Education Reform Plan

The following is a Press Release from the Governor's Office:

Today, over 100 local elected officials including school board members, sheriffs, parish presidents, mayors, policy jury members, city council members, aldermen and assessors endorsed Governor Bobby Jindal’s plan for reforming Louisiana’s schools.

In a joint statement, the elected officials listed below said “The status quo is failing far too many of our kids and it’s clear that our state must better prepare our kids for success in the classroom and in life.  The Governor’s plan to empower parents with more choice, reward highly effective teachers and give local school leaders more flexibility to innovate is necessary to give every Louisiana child the opportunity to a great education.  We encourage our respective representatives in the State House and State Senate to join us in supporting Governor Jindal’s bold education reform proposals.”
