W.T. Henning Elementary in Sulphur recently held Leadership Day to show community leaders and school officials how the "Leader in Me" program has been implemented in the school's curriculum.

An opening assembly was held, and classroom tours were given.

Louisiana Connections Academy to hold informational meeting April 18

The Louisiana Connections Academy will host a free parent information session on April 18 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wingate by Wyndham, located at 1731 W. Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles.

The session is being held to fulfill a growing number of requests for information about the virtual school program.

Bishop Noland students weave hats for Kingsley Place residents

There was a special holiday treat on Wednesday for some local students and seniors alike.

Creative third and fourth grade students at Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School in Lake Charles handcrafted hats this Christmas season.

On Wednesday, the students delivered them to nursing home residents at Kingsley Place in Lake Charles.

The students all shared weaving looms and purchased the yarn themselves. Each night after homework, the students would work on weaving the special hats.

The following is a news release from McNeese State University:

Dr. Kalil P. Ieyoub, retired chemistry professor, chemistry department head, dean of the college of science and vice president for administration and student affairs at McNeese State University, was recently honored by the university with Professor Emeritus status.

A native of Lake Charles, Ieyoub received his Bachelor of Science degree from McNeese and both his Master of Science and doctorate degrees in organic chemistry from Louisiana State University.
