CPSB renews contract with Lake Charles Memorial Sports Medicine

Lake Charles Memorial Sports Medicine will continue serving the student athletes of Calcasieu Parish schools for the next four years. The Calcasieu Parish School Board voted in favor of the extension at their meeting Tuesday night.

Eschete, Jordan capture first place in HT Series Redfish Tournament

The following is a news release from the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau:

Dwayne Eschete and Clark Jordan won first place at the Lake Charles stop of the HT Series Redfish tournament on May 4 at the Contraband Days Louisiana Pirate Festival. The pair brought in a combined 31.85 pounds of redfish and received a $10,000 prize.

The Sulphur's Wrestling Team will host the Sulphur High School Alumni Softball Tournament with games for the men's division taking place on Saturday, May 18 and games for the co-ed division taking place on Sunday, May 19.

LSA State Cup to be held May 4-5 in Lake Charles

The following is a news release from the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau:

The Calcasieu Soccer Club presents the Louisiana Soccer Association State Cup on May 4-5 at the Lake Charles Ward 3 Recreation Power Centre. Players ages 14 and under will compete for the cup title, while players ages 16 and under will compete in a tournament to determine semi-finalists. 

Games start at 8 a.m., and entry to the tournament is free. Refreshments will be sold at the event.

The Foundation for Fairplay (F3) recently donated $677.50 in athletic equipment to Merryville High School. The money went towards the purchase of two sets of catchers gear, 5 batting helmets, two coaches’ helmets and a folding backstop for the baseball team.
