Bishop Noland Episcopal Day School students are spending two days in Cameron Parish replanting wetlands.

58 students will be in Cameron Parish from 9:00 a.m. until Noon on Thursday, May 10, and Friday, May11, helping plant 9,000 marsh grasses, called Bitter Panicum, that will help protect the coast.

Four Episocpal Day Students were among nine winners selected from hundreds of entries in the America’s WETLAND Foundation’s 10th anniversary ‘Keep Your Eyes on the Price’ contest. Each student won $2,500 in equipment for their classroom, plus this restoration project arranged by AWF.

The America's WETLAND Foundation manages the largest, most comprehensive public education campaign in Louisiana's history, raising public awareness of the impact of Louisiana's wetland loss on the state, nation and world. The America's Energy Coast initiative works to sustain the environmental and economic assets of the Gulf Coast region. The initiative is supported by a growing coalition of world, national and state conservation and environmental organizations and has drawn private support from businesses that see wetlands protection as a key to economic growth.
